We are sure that every owner of electronic gadgetry will relate to the pain of handling of cords and chargers associated with the devices. It is generally difficult to carry and maintain those cables as they are prone to accidental breakages. Gone are those days and welcome to carefree stage of TRUE WIRELESS CHARGER which also does not require a CHARGING PAD below any device! Yes, ‘Pi’ a company based out of Silicon Valley has claimed that they have developed the world’s first wireless charger that not only eliminates cords but charger mats too!
About the size of small table vase, the Pi chargers operates on standard charging technology used in Apple or Android smart phones designed to be powered up wirelessly.
But here is the difference which defines it class apart from other wireless chargers – This conical charger juices the smart phone with use of electro-magnetic waves instead of cords or mats. Magnetic fields are an latest and ideal way to safely send energy to portable electronics says Pi chief technology officer Lixin Shi, who created the charger with partner John MacDonald.
It took more than a year for the company to engineer the bending of magnetic waves to find smart phones, make charging more flexible, multi-device and extend the range.
The Pi charger emits magnetic field so energy could be sent to smart phones placed or in use within one feet radius. Pi’s magnetic fields are relatively weak and less than the levels used for medical imaging, but allow devices to be charged at full speed.
Important feature of this charger is that it can charge a number of smart phones and tablets wirelessly on a desk if placed near people working together.
Pi had set up shop in the Silicon Valley city of San Bruno. The co-founders said they raised $3.5 million in a seed funding and have promised the shipment of Pi devices beginning next year and with a pricing of less than $200.
It shall compete with wireless chargers from Belkin Boost and Apple Air Power which use Mats to charge unlike Pi which is true Wireless.
