Finally Apple released its 2017 line up of Apple Iphone models – iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus on 12th September event. Truly speaking in terms of hardware which was not at all exciting as per Apple’s standards of innovation, the exorbitant pricing of Rs 89,000 for India left many with shattered dream of owning an Iphone.
The difference in the USA and Indian pricing for iPhone X, has raised the question if buying iPhone from USA is a better option or also rather from Hong Kong where it is seen that there are relatively lower pricing of the phones.
Now the big question is why are Iphones costing more in India?
- The main reason being that Apple has to pay when they import smart phones to a particular country thus the direct conversion of currency will show that Indian pricing of the iPhone is higher than in US.
- We are comparing the prices just to give an idea to the users that the difference, leaving aside fluctuation of exchanges. Also to be noted is that USA price which they market does not include taxes, roughly 10 percent and varying from state to state. Indian pricing does include taxes.
The high-end 64GB of iPhone X has been priced at $999. In India, the handset will be made available at a steep price of Rs. 89,000 which translates to $1,388 that is around 39 percent expensive. The 256GB storage variant of the iPhone X, the US pricing stands at $1,149 while in India the smart phone will set you back by Rs. 1,02,000, which is roughly $1,591 and around 39 percent higher again.
The iPhone 8, 64GB variant of smartphone is of $699. In India,a price of Rs. 64,000, which roughly translates to $998, around 43 percent more than US. The 256GB storage variant of the iPhone 8, the US price is $849 while in India buying will be at Rs. 77,000, which is roughly $1,200 and around 41 percent higher.
Finally coming to the iPhone 8 Plus, the 64GB variant of smart phone has been priced in the US at $799. In India, the handset will be at a price of Rs. 73,000, which roughly translates to $1,139, around 43 percent expensive. If we talk about the 256GB storage variant of the iPhone 8, the US pricing stands at $949 while in India the smart phone will be available in Rs. 86,000, which is roughly $1,341 and around 41 percent higher than its US price.
As you can see from the price difference, India is among the markets where all phones are on the higher side in comparison to the US.
