Away from home, you retire to only homelike feeling in a strange town – your room. But to keep away from nostalgic woes you can decorate your room with few modest yet pretty things to embellish your rooms with.
Lights do not cost a lot and make your room brighter as well as feels festive. A reason to return to good vibes of your small space. No one likes to come to a dull and boring room. It’s depressing to live alone and being unhappy with the way you live.
You can take out prints of photographs and polaroids of the things you like, you college, your workplace, your friends, folks back at home, cousins, the cute little pets, childhood memories. And every time you look at them you’ll notice a smile crawling up your lips. It gives you the motivation to keep going for the blessings in your life, for your parents and siblings.
Favourite movies, actors, artists, band, singers, series, comics, characters from the novels deserve fangirling/fanboying moments up on the wall. These movies and series and songs are the source of sustenance in different places. It is the way to make your room contain more of your personality.
4. Anytime snacks
Admit it you are more often hungry than not at odd times. Keep a basket and jars adorned with threads and old clothes or colourful papers filled with snacks to eat. So that you never go hungry when there’s no place to get food from.
Wall-hangings, wind chimes, dream-catchers can give your room an extra pop of colour and a happy, positive room to be in. You can put up bits and pieces to hang your clothes on or mufflers, scarves and hats. Fake plants can also do the thing.
It’s not cool to lose any of your stuff when you go through cash crunch because honestly, living alone is expensive. Thrift shop furniture and utensils, broken cups, old bottles, bowls serve the purpose. To safely stock up your accessories, earphones, books, safety pins, spectacles, little items you can lose are kept there.
These are just some ways personalize your hostel rooms, pg rooms, flats, pads to give a ‘you’ factor.
