BMI = weight (lb) / height2 (in2) × 703

Example using metric BMI formula:

For an adult with a height of 190 cm and a weight of 80 kg. Initially, we need to convert the height into meters. As there are 100cm in a meter, we have to divide our figure by 100. This gives us 1.9m.

BMI = 80 / (1.9 x 1.9)

BMI = 80/ 3.61

BMI = 22.16

So, according to the above BMI table, the person has an ideal weight.

Example using imperial BMI formula:

For an adult with a height of 4ft 11 inches and a weight of 166 pounds (lb). Initially, we have to convert the height into inches only. There are 12 inches in a foot, so we simply multiply the 4ft by 12 and then add the 11 inches. This gives us a total of 59 inches.

BMI = (166 / (59 x 59)) x 703

BMI = (166 / 3481) x 703

BMI = 33.52

So, according to the above BMI table, the person is obese.
