Kapil Sharma, who was supposed to undergo anti-toxification treatment at an Ayurvedic center in Bengaluru for 40 days, has returned to Mumbai. He apparently requested the therapists out there to let him go after 12 days because he had to complete his film ‘Firangi’ which is slated to release in November.
Speculations were rife that Kapil would make a comeback on TV with the second season of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ in October, but that looks like a distant dream now.
According to a report in DNA, Kapil will return to TV only next year. Kapil Sharma has reportedly stopped drinking and left the rehab some 28 days ahead of schedule, where he was recovering from alcoholism, DNA reported a “close friend” of the comedian as saying. The report added that Kapil left the Ayurvedic clinic in Bengaluru to touch down in Mumbai on Sunday because of pending work commitments.
“Kapil is feeling much better. I can sense the changes in him. He had been pushing himself too far during the last few years. His mind and body gave warning signals. He wasn’t taking these warnings seriously. Now, finally God planned this break for him. And it has done him a world of good. Kapil has stopped drinking completely, at least, for now,” DNA quoted Kapil’s friend as saying.
“The show will return only when Kapil has fully recovered. Kapil has realised health is the most important thing in life. As for the show, it is very dear to him and it isn’t going anywhere,” he added.
Kapil Sharma addressed rumours of his deteriorating emotional and physical condition earlier this month, telling Bollywood Hungama: “Main thoda phisal gaya tha. Abb sambhal gaya hoon (I slipped now I’ve regained composure)”. This was followed by a confession, which was a first from Kapil: “I started drinking heavily. It was so unnecessary and so painful.”
Kapil Sharma, who was reputed both for his onscreen persona and his show began losing popularity after his mid-air altercation with Sunil Grover. Kapil was allegedly inebriated during a flight back from Melbourne and assaulted and abused Sunil on board. The Kapil Sharma Show regulars Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Sugandha Mishra had quit the show in support of Sunil Grover.
Fresh reports also suggest that Sunil Grover may return to TV with a brand new show which could have team Kapil members on board. However, there has been no confirmation regarding the same.
